Official: Russia to make up to 45 MC-21 planes until 2025

IRKUTSK, Nov 27 (PRIME) -- Russia plans to produce up to 45 MC-21-300 aircraft that will use national PD-14 aircraft engines until 2025, the government of the Irkutsk Region said in a statement on Friday following a visit of Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov to the region.

Manturov and Irkutsk Region’s Head Igor Kobzev visited a subsidiary of aircraft producer Irkut in the region to look at the MC-21-300 aircraft with installed Russian engines PD-14.

“We saw the MC-21-300 plane, which will make its first flight with the PD-14 engine until the end of the year. Flight certification tests of MC-21-300s are still going on. Our task is to get the Russian certificate for this aircraft until the end of next year,” Manturov said, as quoted by the government.

“Until 2025, 36 of these planes will be made, but there is a possibility of raising the amount to 45 aircraft given the five existing assembling stations. Our plans include production of up to 70 aircraft.”
